Bio:

The second son of a wealthy cloth merchant, Madoc Berwin was sent off to be educated. For his

father would say, “Those who count the money, keep the money,” or "Those who know the law, know

how to direct coin to the coffers." Although an able enough student he was not an energetic one

and made no significant headway in any one field. He was in danger of losing his

father’s funding and the University’s graces when it was discovered by Gedrych Rees, the new

court magician, that Madoc possessed the gift. But Gedrych’s impatience and at times imperious manner did not bring out the best in his new and often unfocused student and eventually Madoc was set aside.

However, once free of his former master, Madoc made progress on his own piecing together bits from random and obscure works his knowledge of the art did indeed grow. And in an ironic twist of fate, Madoc was brought to the court by Emyr Llwyd, the aging court sorcerer that Gedrych had been brought in to eventually replace. Although still a powerful magician, with his body’s decline, Magister LLwyd decided he could use some assistance. And if he might tweak Gedrych’s nose at the same time by bringing in his “failed” student, well perhaps he thought that was even better.

-more to come about the death of the kindly master Emyr, the cowardice or possible betrayal of Gedrych and of the evil sorcerer Kenmond Herenoth…The Death Bed of the Wizard and the King

Madoc believes textile to be another curse of his former master Gedrych tasked to his to waste his time on another boring and futile learning of no real power or consequence.
